Acupuncture is a form of health care that has been in existence for over 2000 years.  It is based on the premise that the body is an intricate network of energy that travels along pathways, known as meridians. Symptoms of disease and pain result when there is a blockage of the energy along these pathways. Acupuncture points, located on the meridians, are stimulated to remove the blockage of energy and restore the body’s balance and well being.  In addition to the traditional form of acupuncture - auricular therapy – or ear acupuncture is being used to treat many health conditions as well.  Acupuncture is now recognized and accepted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institute for Health (NIH).  Acupuncture requires the use of small, single use, sterile needles that are placed approximately 1/8 of an inch below the surface of the skin.  Most people will either feel a small pinching sensation or no sensation at all when the needles are placed on the body.

Acupuncture can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

·         Immune system weakness
·         Gastrointestinal problems such as irritable bowel syndrome and                                           Crohn's Disease.
·         Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
·         Seasonal allergies
·         Acute and chronic joint and muscle pain
